I will not be judging The Rising from my introduction to The Beginning of Everything but I will give it 5 stars because of the journey the emotions I felt. This story made me extremely angry at times, had me smiling like a loon at others, and I was constantly wearing a frown in concentration. I had to remind myself that this is not my love story and it IS unreal. These stories are about other people and their lives, so I can hardly judge them on their decisions and sexual proclivities.

For fans of the Fantasyland series, this will seem a little like returning to visit with old friends (and enemies). There are a few scenes that will push some readers too far and while some left me uncomfortable, I was able to get past them. The narrators do an AMAZING job and by the end, I found it easier to follow along because of the different narrators.

Producing work at an exponential rate, she has managed to construct a vibrant and well established writing career for herself. Attending events, conventions along with book-signings, she maintains her exposure levels well, with a keen eye for marketing. Not only that, but she keeps a steady relationship with her fans meeting them, and this is something that will continue as her career progresses.

Vilma: You give us Frankie and Benny's story in The Promise. They are both strong-willed, tenacious people, so their interactions are always lively, to say the least! They also both have big hearts and care deeply. How would you describe their dynamic?

Kristen: Give and take. As you say, both are strong-willed, they are also both stubborn. One of the many things I enjoyed with this story was watching them settle into the rhythm of their relationship. They bicker and both enjoy the challenge of that, but when it gets down to the nitty-gritty, one gives way to the other. For instance, Benny takes direction; he's a macho, alpha caregiver, looking after Frankie in a variety of ways. Unlike most of my heroes, he gives in with Frankie and he does it often. On the other hand, Frankie is a pushover for her family, almost all of whom do not treat her right in dramatic and damaging ways. It's Benny who steps in and draws the line of what she'll accept when they're abusing her and what she will not.
