Normally the punch list is drawn up in a walkthrough in which the contractor and the client (or project manager) collaborate. The listed items whether directly or indirectly are taken care of by the contractor to ensure that the agreed standards are achieved. In other instances subcontractors deal with certain tasks basing on their specialty. The objective is to find and rectify all small things before the project can be regarded completed. When everything has been dealt with, final inspection may be conducted and the contractor may be able to officially close the job and be paid the final.
